while on our laptops our internet will disconnect us randomly but the
intelpro wireless connection still tells us we are connected
internet is recovered by connecting to profile again or switching the internet on and off …….what causes these drop outs?
i have moved router closer and moved all other 2.4 ghz phones i have also tried differant channels in router settings

From time to time, I inexplicably need to unplug the modem and the router. I don’t know why. I just know that takes care of it. Maybe it gets tired of my constant clickity-clattering.

I just moved into a new house and havent hooked up internet yet, is it illegal to connect to my neighbors wireless connection if its unlocked? also, if i do this can they pick up information off my computer, like websites and emails?

No more illegal than walking into their open front door and using their telephone to make long distance calls.

Some people claim that the airwaves are free and broadcasting in the clear removes any restrictions. What I suspect is that any court rulings have said that RECEIVING such transmissions isn’t prohibited, but transmitting into that network and using the broadband resources still is.

Doesn’t make sense to me otherwise. Their failure to protect their network shouldn’t have any bearing on whether or not their neighbors can use the ISP.

how can i use my env touch as a wireless internet connection for my laptop. I have the unlimited internet access (vcast) for my phone for $15 a month but cant i convert that into a wireless connection for my laptop?

Even though you can get the internet on this phone you can’t use it to get service for your laptop.

Everytime i go onto isohunt my wireless conection drops. What do i do. I have to restart the computer. I don’t want to switch torrents sites because i prefer isohut. Its very annoying i have to plan my track before the internet drops. My internet connection is wireless. Its only isohunt this happens to. No other sites at all. What do i do?

I have a Dell Inspiron 910 Mini and it’s all of a sudden showing no wireless internet connection. There’s only 2 wired connections and Point to Point connection listed in the Network Settings, under Connections, no wireless.

did you hit the button along the front that disables the wireless? is there a slowly blinking light on the right front? if not your wireless is off and you need to slide the button to turn it back on.

I dont have wireless internet connection and I want to use internet on my laptop aswell. How can I change it to wireless? My internet connection at the moment is broadband.

Assuming Windows-
First, if you don’t know if you have a wireless adapter on your computer, go to;

- device manager (start > control panel > system > device manager) and expand the ‘network adapters’ sub menu. - If you see anything that says ‘wireless’ there, right-click it and make sure it is enabled (if it says ‘disable’, it’s good, if it says ‘enable’, click it). If you don’t see a wireless adapter there, you’ll need to get one.

Then get a wireless router. There are lots of them out there but I recommend getting a Linksys because they are highly configurable, very reliable, standardized, flexible, and economical. You can get one from walmart for $60 +/-

Unplug the power from your modem, then;
Make the connection as follows:
From the wall port, connect your modem.
From your modem, connect your wireless router.
From your wireless router, connect devices that you had previously connected directly to your modem (your desktop computer).

Plug power into your modem
plug power into your router
turn on your desktop and begin with the installation disk that came with the router.

I just installed windows seven release candidate, and I’ve got everything to work except internet. I’ve seen some suggestions on this topic but none of them helped. see, when I search for wireless connections if finds none, although I have one that’s going over a router right now. I could use some help. thanks in advance.

Navigate to your wireless network card properties and make sure it is enabled;
start > control panel > network and internet (or network and sharing) > network options > manage network connections
then select your wireless NIC and right click on it, then make sure it is enabled.

Make sure that your wireless NIC switch did not get turned off also.

I have a HP pavilion dv6 laptop that has pre-installed windows 7, but i also installed ‘Wubi’ Ubuntu as a second OS, but when i run it, i cannot get internet through the wireless connection in-built into my laptop. How do i solve this?

My next door neighbour has wireless connection and she shared her internet connection with me.

I want to know can she check or control the websites I see as she get the wireless connection and I share mine with her?

Her ISP can, but she herself can’t.
Then again, if she’s a real computer wizz that keeps logs of their router/modem, then yes, but because you seem to be talking about an average Joe, then no.

(Note while explaining this I’m not trying to be a smart ass but you did say step by step)First step. Get a wireless router..2nd step take it out of the box and take the adapter and plug the end with the hole into the wireless router. Next plug the other end into the wall. After this, either take a straight-through cable(cable that looks the same on both ends color wise on the tips) or the one in the box if one came with the router. take a cable from the internet port on the modem to the internet port on your router. (this will make it so your router will also send out internet signals)now if you have another straight-through cable, plug one end from one of the ethernet ports on the router of a PC or laptop..(this will make it so everytime we make a little change we won’t have to reconnect to the network) if not connect ur pc or laptop to the wireless router…usually the name of the network is the name of the router.Connected to the network.If your plugged into the router from a pc or laptop your already connected to the router…Open u a browser ex Firefox, IE safari or any other browser. Type this into the address bar 192.168.1.1 then press enter..A box will appear and in the password box type admin..Leave the username part blank.press enter you will come into the router configuration screen. on top click the security tab or wireless security (wireless security might be under wireless tab depends on what router you get. Than you can create a secure connection by choosing a security type…WPA2 personal is recommend but you can use whatever…this will be a password others will need to access your network…under something like basic router configuartion look for something called SSID this will be the name of your namework..than undermanagement tab you can change the username and password that you used to get into this page to prevent unauthorized access..If you won’t know what something is than don’t mess with it….Enjoy your wireless
